Common DC-Link Capacitor Harmonic Current Minimization for Cascaded Converters by Optimized Phase-Shift Modulation

This paper investigates the influence of a constant carrier phase shift on DC-link capacitor harmonic current cascaded converters used in fuel-cell and mild-hybrid electric vehicles. In these applications, DC-DC converter can be adopted between battery motor drive inverter structure, where two share same DC-link. Since such system represents critical component, optimization operation to limit stress extend lifetime is an primary objective. proposes use modulations order minimize capacitor. By analysis, optimal derived depending configuration. Analytical results are presented validated by hardware-in-the-loop experiments. The findings show that pulse width modulation interleaved boost voltage source has significant thus its lifetime. A case study with two-cell three-cell shows possible extension up 390%.
